Live A Meaningful Story

Welcome to the Live A Meaningful Story Podcast, where we connect the movies we love with the stories we live. We are four friends with different backgrounds who love watching movies and conversing about their deeper meanings. Each week, we discuss a film, wrestling with how its story, characters, settings, genres, and themes connect to the stories we find ourselves living. We often relate these films to principles found in Narrative Therapy and our Christian faith. Through this podcast, you will gain insight and appreciation for all kinds of stories, including your own. You will also be encouraged to reflect on your own life, and how to live with a greater sense of purpose. Join us as we make sense of our lives, one film at a time. Hosted by Derrick Hatch, a Storytelling Coach, Narrative Practitioner, and speaker. Co-hosted by award-winning filmmaker and movie buff Nick Natale, teacher and stop-motion filmmaker Joseph Wilson, and life-skills educator Jason Lynn. All Things Narrative exists to guide you towards telling and living your story more meaningfully. These collective narrative methodologies seek to assist people to address the effects of traumatic experiences without having to speak directly about them. David is also vitally interested in how collective narrative practices can spark and/or sustain social movementand in projects that respond to racism and seek to strengthen social cohesion/inclusion.  Recent teaching/community assignments have included Brazil, Palestine, Singapore, Austria, Brazil, Hong Kong, Kurdistan (Iraq), India, Canada, Sri Lanka, Argentina, Chile, South Africa and a number of Aboriginal Australian communities. Narrative Practices is all about helping people live their preferred stories more intentionally. So like a writer telling their story, how can we use the elements of story (plot, character, setting, theme) to live more intentionally the kinds of lives that are meaningful to us? We explore all this and more on this month's edition of Narrative 101.

She has created a series of award winning Narrative Therapy initiatives that support her belief in the importance of written, visual and oral  storytelling.  Kate is a sought after speaker in the corporate sector, in communities and at creative forums.
Tobias Rader lives with his partner, his two children and dog in Port Alberni, BC Canada. He is a Social Worker and Narrative Therapist, working for the Province of BC and in private practice.
